Elected Officials

Legislative change is the result of meaningful conversation at multiple levels:

First, gain a solid understanding of your
voting rights and elections resources.

Then, get to know the people, places and things of the
State of Maryland. Learn how we govern ourselves and how to become an effective part of that process.

Next, contact
Governor Martin O'Malley. Whether you’re a citizen of Maryland or just visiting our great state, your comments and suggestions are welcome.

And, be sure to check out the
Maryland General Assembly. The General Assembly has 47 Senators and 141 Delegates elected from 47 districts, who meet in Annapolis for 90 days each year to handle key legislation--including the States's annual budget!

About Prince George's County:

All legislative powers of the County are vested in the County Council. Their 2012 Committee Assignments guide their work.

The County Council meets as a legislative body at 10:00 a.m. every Tuesday in the Council Hearing Room (main floor), County Administration Building, Upper Marlboro. The Council recesses in August and December.

All County Council sessions are open to the public, and citizens are encouraged to attend.
Take time to review the full breakdown of the Prince George's legislative process.
